The mother was sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ to find out she was ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ just weeks after learning she was ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ.
Rebecca Roberts, 39, is ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ with daughter Rosalie but is alsoᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ with son Noah. It is known that Rosalie was ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇɪᴠᴇᴅ while Rebecca was three weeks pregnant with Noah, according to tests. Rosalie is somewhat smaller than her big brother because she gave birth to both twins on the same day.
The occurrence, known as “superfetation,” has only been described a few times in medical history, and occurs most often in women undergoing IVF. It occurs when an egg is ғᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴢᴇᴅ by a sperm and implants in the uterus for just a few days or weeks.
This is extremely unusual – and some consider it impossible – as a woman’s physiology and hormones often prevent another pregnancy from occurring while she is ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ. seen as an anomaly but also seen as a miracle. Rebecca, a designer of children’s clothing, has been told it can happen because she is taking fertility drugs, which encourage the ovaries to produce more eggs. which she was recommended by her doctor friend and was told it works very well.
And she couldn’t believe it when the doctors told her about Noah’s 12-week ultrasound. The unexpected happened that there was an appearance of Rosalie.

The doctor couldn’t understand any of the baby’s measurements because she was so small, so she asked Rebecca to walk out into the parking lot and jump forward to try to encourage the baby to move a little. Because of the Covid-19 epidemic, Rebecca’s husband, Rhys Roberts, 43, could not enter the clinic with Rebeca and waited for her outside.

Rosalie may have been invisible from the start – sometimes an ultrasound can’t identify one twin because they’re behind the other, too early in the pregnancy, or simply due to human error. However, Rebecca said that doctors decided that a rare superbirth event occurred, in part because Rosalie was smaller but still growing at a healthy rate.

Because of Rosalie’s umbilical cord problem, the twins were ʙᴏʀɴ earlier than expected, when Noah was 33 weeks. Rebecca took Noah, 4lb 10oz, and Rosalie, 2lb 7oz, through block C on September 17, with Rhys by her side. Rosalie was sent to St Michael’s ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ in Bristol and was treated in a ᴄʀɪᴛɪᴄᴀʟ ᴄᴏɴᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴ for 95 days.

Noah spent three weeks and three days in Bath before returning home to see his 14-year-old sister Summer. Rebecca said: ‘We feel so lucky, it’s great to have twins, but to have such amazing twins, it’s amazing, it’s amazing, they’re a godsend.
