Fatima Madrigal gave birth to son Alfredo Antonio Trujillo in Salinas, California, at 11:45 pm. (07:45 GMT) on New Year’s Eve 2021. But the surprising thing is that Aylin arrived fifteen minutes later, when the clock struck midnight and the ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ staff announced the new year, the new baby Aylin was ʙᴏʀɴ. That’s why Aylin and Alfredo Trujillo are twins, but they are completely different in terms of day, month, and year of birth.
Madrigal’s due date is January 16, so the twins arrived two weeks earlier. Aylin weighs 5 pounds, 14 ounces (2.66 kg), and Alfredo weighs 6 pounds, 1 ounce.
Madrigal said her partner, Robert Trujillo, and their three other children, 11, three and one, are excited about the new additions. “I’m surprised that twins don’t run in my family or in my partner’s family,” she explains. “sᴏ ᴡᴇ’ʀᴇ ʜᴀᴘᴘʏ ᴛᴏ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ɢɪᴠᴇɴ ᴛᴡᴏ ʙᴀʙɪᴇs, ᴀ ʙᴏʏ ᴀɴᴅ ᴀ ɢɪʀʟ, sᴏ ᴡᴇ’ʀᴇ ᴅᴏɴᴇ.”
Now, the twins will celebrate their birthdays on the same day, according to Madrigal. She wanted them to have some sort of bond since they were twins so she let them celebrate the same birthday until they were both. grown up and aware and then she will ask their opinion about the date of their birthday.
“I’ll do my best to explain it to them. When they get older, they might want to celebrate their birthdays in different years, but right now, when they’re little and to me, they’ll to celebrate their birthdays together,” she said.
According to the ɴᴀᴛɪᴠɪᴅᴀᴅ ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄᴀʟ ᴄᴇɴᴛᴇʀ, where the twins are ʙᴏʀɴ, more than 120,000 twins occur in the United States each year, but twins with different birth dates are uncommon. According to the ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ, the chance of twins being born in separate years is one in two million.
